Tata Steel's expansion pipeline supports favourable post-expansion outlook
While steel prices continue to be under pressure, Tata Steel is looking at various moves to ensure domestic capacity expansion to 40 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) by 2030 from the current 26.6 mtpa. The Board has granted in-principle approval for 4.8 mtpa capacity expansion at Neelachal Ispat Nigam (NINL) with ore requirements to be met from NINL’s captive Koira mine.

Silver prices hit record high, breach Rs 2 lakh per kg mark in futures trade
Silver prices rallied high on Friday breaching the record Rs 2 lakh per kg mark in futures trade for the first time, riding on strong investor demand and positive global trends. This was the fourth consecutive day of Silver’s rise. The white metal futures for March delivery appreciated by Rs 1,420, or 0.71 per cent, to touch a lifetime high of Rs 2,00,362 per kg on the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX), reported PTI.

Waaree Energies boosts Samakhiali plant capacity to 3 GW
Mumbai: Waaree Energies Limited has added 1.5 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity at its Samakhiali facility in Kutch, Gujarat, bringing the plant’s total annual capacity to 3 GW. The expansion was announced on December 12, 2025. The additional capacity comprises two high-efficiency module production lines of 750 MW each at the same location. The Samakhiali site now ranks among Waaree’s most advanced manufacturing hubs, featuring next-generation automation, quality control systems and integrated testing facilities.
Hoshiarpur takes leap in promoting renewable energy

Launching the integration of the Go-Solar mobile APK with CSCs-developed jointly by the district administration and Red Cross Society-and addressing a special workshop of village-level entrepreneurs (VLEs) at the District Administrative Complex, Deputy Commissioner Jain said that Hoshiarpur is currently the fastest-progressing district in Punjab in terms of solar rooftop adoption. This reflects the high level of awareness and enthusiasm among local residents toward renewable energy, she noted. With CSCs now providing doorstep access to the service, the process of installing solar systems will become more convenient, transparent and streamlined.
Renewable energy capacity addition surges in April-November
India added a record 27GW of solar and 3.9 GW of wind power capacity in the April-November period of the current financial year; in contrast, the country added 23.8 GW of solar and 4.1 GW of wind in the full year 2024-25.  Counting in 2.6 GW of large hydro (including pumped storage) and 700 MW of nuclear (RAPP-7 in Rajasthan), the total non-fossil fuel addition in the first eight months of the current financial year stands at 35.66 GW.
